No seriously, health care?!

So we were having dinner at Big Nick's tonight - got the Zapata burger (guac, bacon & cheddar) and a chocolate shake.

We were discussing income inequality and the things rich people buy when one of the people at the next table leaned over and excitedly said, "Excuse me, but are you talking about health care?"

Turns out they were tourists visiting from Scotland, and they proceeded to heckle us for the next 30 minutes about term limits, America's lack of healthcare, and dumb people voting.

I had hoped to talk about boats instead.

In other news, I've purchased the (500) Days Of Summer soundtrack.

One more thing...

Thank you, Dwight Howard!

It hasn't been a great year to root against Philly sports teams, but now that the Sixers have been knocked out of the playoffs, all is right with the world again.

Procrastination & Suiting

Right now, I should be writing an essay on Kant's objections to the world state, but am just not feeling it. I will work on it ... later. After this post. After the study break. After I get some more coding done.

That being said, here are some of the things I've bought recently.

Was in desperate need of some more business casual for the internship this summer. And this isn't your grandmother's business casual, made up of equal parts business and casual. This would be more like two parts business to one part casual, with a dash of baller and a pinch of awesome. Or at least I'd prefer to hallucinate that last part. AC, VL, and JS helped me choose out this suit, with its pinstripes and two buttons.

Tahari by ASL Pinstripe Pant Suit (Navy/White)

I really like this. The two buttoned jacket was totally the right call, and it looks good both buttoned and unbuttoned. One thing that isn't immediately visible in the picture is how high the rise on the pants is. When they tell you there's a 14-inch rise, they're NOT KIDDING OK. The pants literally come up to the bottom of my rib cage, but that's completely alright. It's a built-in excuse never to tuck my shirt in!

When I wore it with the hammered silk tank (J Crew) and asked Mike what he thought, he told me I looked like a "feminazi." Yay, success? This also came after he told me I looked a) kind of weird, b) like I worked for the mob helping people into their concrete shoes, and c) like someone he would purchase flowers from (?!).

This next thing I've been lusting over for quite a while, but with a pre-sale price of $195, I never really thought it would happen. Was browsing the JCA Weekly Swap and there was someone selling it for $55, including shipping! I emailed them immediately, and have never looked back.

J Crew Wool flannel golden roses dress

When I showed JT this dress, his first comment was on how "oddly long" the model's legs were. Here's to hoping it has the same effect on me!

J Crew Marcella blouse

Got this for $20 off the Weekly Swap, mostly because of my antipathy towards tucking in shirts. This is considerably less saturated in color than the orange perfect fit t's, and is more of a pumpkin color. It's still orange, though! Can anyone say "new favorite color"?

Uneventful Shopping

Went to the Galleria yesterday, and picked up yet another perfect-fit T, this one in "light blade," which is really nothing but light teal. ($15 - 15% = $12.75)

I didn't try one on, but am very much lusting after the perfect-fit corsage scoopneck tee, especially in navy.

Tossup

This company has recently partnered with International Goodwill Ambassador Liya Kebede to promote her line of handmade children’s clothing, Lemlem. This company’s first brick and mortar store was at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan, and recent catalogs have featured Lauren Hutton. In addition to its head designer Jenna Lyons and “handwritten” notes from the CEO Mickey Drexler, this retailer is known for its final sale and such items as the pearl cluster bracelet and the crystal constellation cardigan. The parent company of the more casual Madewell, this company’s stock has risen nearly 64% in the last four months. In contrast to Sarah Palin’s 150k wardrobe, an outfit from this place cost $340, and this company’s stock went up 10.6% on Inauguration Day alone, when the world saw Sasha and Malia’s outfits. FTP, name this clothing retailer, a favorite of Michelle Obama.
ANSWER: J. Crew

Why do quizbowlers hate girly trash??

Obsession of the Week

3Oh!3 - Don't Trust Me
I haven't been able to find a good video of this live, and the chorus lyrics are hilariously misspelled in this one. Also, not grandmother-appropriate.

Entire album can be found here.

Old Purchases

Michael Kors Link Bracelet Watch
It's very large on the wrist, but I think I'm keeping it.

Threadless Rock is dead and paper killed it, hoodie
This has very quickly become an integral part of my wardrobe. If something were to happen to it, I don't know what I'd do. Walk around undressed??

I'd forgotten how much I love hoodies and American Eagle was having a sale, so I just had to get some more. Using a coupon (20% off everything with code 85963198, expires 04/18/09) along with a promotion (buy one top and get another top 50% off) I got the following 2 hoodies for $33.94, including shipping.
Eagle Full-Zip Hoodie, "vintage red"
Eagle Full-Zip Fleece, "chalk"
